Expert Advice for Safety of Women
1) What should a woman do if she finds herself alone in the company of a strange male as she prepares to enter a lift in a high-rise apartment late at night?
Experts Say: Enter the lift. If you need to reach the 13th floor, press all the buttons up to your destination. No one will dare attack you in a lift that stops on every floor.
2) What to do if a stranger tries to attack you when you are alone in your house, run into the kitchen.
Experts Say: You alone know where the chili powder and turmeric are kept. And where the knives and plates are. All these can be turned into deadly weapons. If nothing else, start throwing plates and utensils all over. Let them break. Scream. Remember that noise is the greatest enemy of a molester. He does not want to be caught.
3} Taking an Auto or Taxi at Night.
Experts Say: Before getting into an auto at night, note down its registration number. Then use the mobile to call your family or friend and pass on the details to them in the language the driver understands .Even if no one answers your call, pretend you are in a conversation. The driver now knows someone has his details and he will be in serious trouble if anything goes wrong. He is now bound to take you home safe and sound. A potential attacker is now your de facto protector!
4}What if the driver turns into a street he is not supposed to - and you feel you are entering a danger zone?
Experts Say: Use the handle of your purse or your stole (dupatta) to wrap around his neck and pull him back. Within seconds, he will feel choked and helpless. In case you don't have a purse or stole just pull him back by his collar. The top button of his shirt would then do the same trick.
5} If you are stalked at night.
Expert Say: enter a shop or a house and explain your predicament. If it is night and shops are not open, go inside an ATM box. ATM centers always have security guards. They are also monitored by close circuit television. Fearing identification, no one will dare attack you.
After all, being mentally alert is the greatest weapon you can ever have.
Please spread it to all those u care

Report of Justice PN Bhagwati 3rd International Moot competition
A team comprising of Ayush Khanna (8th Semester), Gaurav Bishan (8th Semester) and Nandita Narayan (6th Semester), participated in “JUSTICE P.N.BHAGWATI 3rd INTERNATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION" held from 15th – 17th march, 2013 at Bharti-Vidyapeeth University, NEW LAW COLLEGE, Pune. The participating teams include 40 National teams with all the top national law schools participating and 5 international teams (2 from Poland, USA, South Africa and Iraq).
Amity Law School, Noida was adjudged RUNNERS UP in the competition and was appreciated by the judges and fellow participants for their research and presentation skills.
It was a great learning experience as we argued before the sitting Hon’ble Judges of the Supreme Court and High Court. Vice-Chancellors of NLSIU, Bangalore and RGNLU Patiala were also amongst the Judges.
We are thankful to our faculty members especiallyDrJ.S.Nayarand Mrs. BhavnaBatra for guiding us throughout.
We were also felicitated by our Founder President Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan when we came back to Amity, which was a proud moment for us.
With our experience and the reviews given by the judges, we would like to suggest the teams participating in different moot court competitions, to keep in mind the following points during their preparation:
· The most important of all is that you should always relate the law point with the facts of the case and not just harp on the law.
· Research should be wide and should not be restricted to the issues raised.
· Please be THOROUGH with the facts of the case and your research, you must also know the facts of the case you have referred in your memorial.
· Refrain from speaking haywire things. If you don’t know what the judge is asking very humbly either plead ignorance or tell the judge that your co-counsel will deal with the issue (in the course of time your co-counsel can prepare the answer to the question). THIS ACT SHOULD NOT BE REPEATED MORE THAN ONCE.
· The rules of the competition should be thoroughly interpreted, specially the rules regarding the drafting of the memorials and whether the arguments can be made out of the memorial or not.

INTERVIEW with Maj-Gen Nilendra Kumar on launch of his book, ‘Clinical Legal Education’
INTERVIEW with
Maj-Gen Nilendra Kumar, Director of Amity Law School, Noida, Amity University,
on the occasion of the launch of his book, ‘Clinical Legal Education’ in Amity
University on 4th APRIL 2013
Sir, we want
to congratulate you first on this achievement before we proceed with the
interview.
1) How
many books have you written so far?
Frankly, I have not kept
track. Perhaps it is the.... twelfth one...
2) Why
this topic of clinical legal education?
Law is to be studied for its
application, be it family law, property law, criminal, taxation or any other
branch of law.Hence the importance for a law student to know and master its
application. This is the purpose of clinical legal education.
3) Who
is this book written for?
The target readership of the
book is the student in various law colleges and universities in India and also
their faculty, who, in most cases, do not have background of law application
and practice.
4) Which areas does the book cover?
The book’s contents relate to
the syllabus framed by the Bar Council of India. For example, trial advocacy
(mock trials) followed by appellate advocacy (moot trials), legal aid clinics,
client counselling, community lawyering and legal writing, etc.
5) What
do you think are the challenges faced by the Indian Legal System today with
regards to legal education?
The most critical challenge
before Indian legal education and for that matter in the subcontinent is the
absence of faculty who is equipped with the requisite experience to introduce
their students to clinical legal education.
6) Do
you mean there is a gap between legal education and the legal world?
Yes, I agree in the sense that
a law student when he/she comes to the actual world, be it in Court, or an
office, or law firm, he has a sense of bewilderment. He does not know what he
has to do, because his education focuses on the theoretical aspect mostly.
7) So,
your book represents basically a bridge between the academic and real legal
world?
In a way, yes. This book is just a small step
towards sensitising the academic environment about clinical legal education.
8) At
what level would you recommend this book to be prescribed in law schools and
colleges?
I would recommend each student
to procure a copy of this book in the first semester itself, and retain it
throughout their stay for legal education.
9) Do
you believe the book can also be relevant for foreign lawyers and academicians?
Yes, this book may be useful
for them to get an exposure about the functioning of the courts, tribunals,
authorities and also about the approach of legal studies in India as regards
its pedagogy.
10) On
a personal note, how do you feel after writing this book, and how much time did
it take you to write it?
It took me more than two years
to write this book. Its publication has given me huge satisfaction and a sense
of achievement in the sense of having contributed my small part to make legal
education emerge more relevant.
11) Will
you be coming with a sequel to this book or another one sometime soon?
As I mentioned, this is a
first step. The comments and suggestions from my faculty colleagues and also
the students on one hand and the law practitioners on the other would be needed
to make its contents meet the expectations of various quarters.
12)Do
you have a word of advice or suggestions for the law students re clinical legal
education?
Get hold of a copy of the book
at the earliest and make use of it to the maximum. And also, approach me
without hesitation if you have any suggestions as to making the book more
purposeful.
13)Finally,
to whom would you like to dedicate this book?
I wish to dedicate this book
to my students of 2008-13 batch of Amity Law School, Noida!
