NLIU-INADR International Law School Mediation Tournament 2012

The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU) along with International Academy of Dispute Resolution (INADR) is organizing the NLIU-INADR International Law School Mediation Tournament 2012 from 16th to 19th February, 2012.

Trials for the same shall be held on 13th January 2012. The dispute for the trials will be given to the participants on the spot and shall be based on contract law.

Selections for the UILS National Client Counseling Competition – 2012 being held in University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh from February 3rd – 4th, 2012 will also be done on the basis of these trials. 

All students interested may kindly register for the trials with the moot court society at mcs.alsnoida@gmail.com.

The School of Law Christ University Banglore is organising an Anti Trust  Moot Court Competition .It will be held  from 19-21 January 2012.

Trials for the same shall be held on 4 January 2012.

National Seminar on Critical Issues in International Commercial Arbitration 2012

The Centre for Business and Commercial Laws (CBCL) at National Law Institute University, Bhopal is pleased to announce a call for papers for the UGC sponsored National Seminar on Critical Issues in International Commercial Arbitration 2012 to be held on 3rd and 4th March, 2012. CBCL is specifically looking forward to receiving scholarly articles on the subject of ‘Critical Issues in International Commercial Arbitration’ authored by students, faculties and academicians from Indian law schools. 

Further, CBCL will also publish select entries in a Special Issue dedicated to International Commercial Arbitration which would contain views and opinions expressed by eminent personalities in the field of Arbitration law.

Jeevika Law Competition on Barriers to Livelihood.


Centre for Civil Society (CCS) has announced the Jeevika Law Competition on Barriers to Livelihood.
The competition aims to document the existing barriers to livelihood in informal sector in India.
This Law Competition is in the form of an essay competition and is meant for law students/researchers/teachers below 35 years of age.
Participants can choose any one or more of the given occupations (maximum of two entries from each individual or group*) from the informal sector.
-
Suggestive list of occupations to be explored in essay:
  1. Street vending
  2. Domestic help
  3. Household industries
  4. Artisanship
  5. Waste picking
  6. Construction work
  7. Cycle Rickshaw pulling
  8. Auto Rickshaw driving
The list given above is suggestive and not exhaustive.

Detailed structure of the essay: (Suggestive)
a) Summary of the work: 250-300 words (Mandatory)
b) Main text:
  • Introduction: 250-500 words, historical perspectives of the problem, empirical data or other such;
  • Interviews of 3 persons (minimum) making a living out of that profession. (Mandatory)
  • Identification of laws, regulations as well as social, religious and cultural practices applicable to the profession;
  • Analysis of the economic, social and cultural status of the profession and of the workers in the profession concerned;
  • Creative analysis of the issue with innovative comments;
  • Necessary suggestions for legal, regulatory as well as social and cultural reforms;
  • Conclusion with expert comments. (200 words-300 words)
Proper acknowledgement with citation of source is mandatory for any reference. The same may be given either as footnote or endnote.
Use of pictures, maps, graphs and tables is encouraged.

The National Law School of India Review (NLSIR)

National Seminar on ‘Human Rights of Persons With Disabilities’


Department of Human Rights and Social Development, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati is organizing a National Seminar on ‘Human Rights of Persons With Disabilities’.

People   intending to present papers are invited to submit an abstract not exceeding 500 words on or before 15-12-2011 and full-length paper not exceeding  5000 words on or before 20-12-2011.

Upcoming Essay Competitions


1. Symbiosis Law School, Pune
Symbiosis Law School, Pune is organizing “Juristas”, the International Law Essay Competition under the aegis of its ILSA Chapter.
The themes for the essay competition are:
a. The Resolution of Transboundary Water Disputes under International Law
b. Trade Policy and Climate Change – Compatibility between Climate Change Policies and the Rules of the WTO.
c. The Adequacy of International Aviation Security Laws in dealing with International Terrorism.
d. International Legal Framework for Peace-building in the Indian Ocean.
Prizes:
1st Prize: Rupees 10,000, 2nd Prize: Rupees 7,500, 3rd Prize: Rupees 5000.

2. The Human Rights Essay Award is an annual competition sponsored by the Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law of the Washington college of law and seeks to stimulate the production of scholarly work in international human rights law.
