GO GREEN Campaign in ALS, Noida

The Amity Legal Aid Cell organised a 'GO GREEN' campaign today in I-2 block which was a huge success with 557 members inclusive of students and faculty who took a pledge to save and protect the environment. The programme was inaugurated by Maj. Gen. Nilendra Kumar, Director, Amity Law School, Noida.

Sir encouraged the student to plant a sapling and nurture it till it grows into a beautiful tree, if each and every person takes care and does his tiny bit for our environment, the Earth will slowly and steadily heal to become a much better, cleaner and greener place to live. Also, whoever plants a tree is most welcome to take a photograph and share it with us.

In the end, we would like to thank you all, for your immense support in making the campaign a successful event.

NALSA Project

The  Central Authority meeting of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) was held on 7/7/2012, chaired by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Altamas Kabir (the then Executive Chairman, NALSA).  It was resolved that the problem of excessive sand- mining from the rivers and the resultant drop in the water level resulting in destruction of rivers, should be taken by NALSA as a Social Justice Litigation under Section 4 (d) of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. It has also been resolved in that meeting to request the law colleges and law universities to engage law students to examine and enquire into destruction of the environment and to send reports to NALSA for initiating appropriate steps:
  • Kindly depute law students of your esteemed institution to examine and enquire into instance of environmental destruction including the adverse ecological impacts due to sand-mining from major rivers and send their reports periodically to this Authority for taking appropriate action.)
  • While on their home stations during the impending winter break, the students are advised to examine this aspect with regard to the local environment/position. Those who are interested to work further may then submit a report on their rejoining and discuss the further course of action.
