Report of Justice PN Bhagwati 3rd International Moot competition

A team comprising of Ayush Khanna (8th Semester), Gaurav Bishan (8th Semester) and Nandita Narayan (6th Semester), participated in “JUSTICE P.N.BHAGWATI 3rd INTERNATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION" held from 15th – 17th march, 2013 at Bharti-Vidyapeeth University, NEW LAW COLLEGE, Pune. The participating teams include 40 National teams with all the top national law schools participating and 5 international teams (2 from Poland, USA, South Africa and Iraq). 

Amity Law School, Noida was adjudged RUNNERS UP in the competition and was appreciated by the judges and fellow participants for their research and presentation skills. 

It was a great learning experience as we argued before the sitting Hon’ble Judges of the Supreme Court and High Court. Vice-Chancellors of NLSIU, Bangalore and RGNLU Patiala were also amongst the Judges. 

We are thankful to our faculty members especiallyDrJ.S.Nayarand Mrs. BhavnaBatra for guiding us throughout. 

We were also felicitated by our Founder President Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan when we came back to Amity, which was a proud moment for us. 

With our experience and the reviews given by the judges, we would like to suggest the teams participating in different moot court competitions, to keep in mind the following points during their preparation: 

· The most important of all is that you should always relate the law point with the facts of the case and not just harp on the law. 

· Research should be wide and should not be restricted to the issues raised. 

· Please be THOROUGH with the facts of the case and your research, you must also know the facts of the case you have referred in your memorial. 

· Refrain from speaking haywire things. If you don’t know what the judge is asking very humbly either plead ignorance or tell the judge that your co-counsel will deal with the issue (in the course of time your co-counsel can prepare the answer to the question). THIS ACT SHOULD NOT BE REPEATED MORE THAN ONCE. 

· The rules of the competition should be thoroughly interpreted, specially the rules regarding the drafting of the memorials and whether the arguments can be made out of the memorial or not.
