The MHRD IP Chair at the National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Intellectual Property and Technology Law Society (IPTLS) & Spicy IP proudly announce the First PIP (Pondering Intellectual Property) Competition, 2012

Topic
Should the process of creating an invention or work determine its protectability as an intellectual property?

1. ELIGIBILITY

Students currently enrolled in accredited full time programs in law anywhere in the world (where the program of study counts as their first degree in law). Students pursuing LLM’s or higher degrees in law are not eligible.

2. Only one entry may be submitted per student. Co- authorship is permitted so long as the co-authors are also individually eligible under the terms of this competition.

3. WORD LIMIT

a. Entries should not be longer than 5,000 words (inclusive of footnotes & references).

b. Entries exceeding the word limit would be automatically disqualified.

4. SUBMISSION FORMAT

Entries should have a cover page containing the following:
a. Full name;

b. Institution, date of birth, degree & year of study; and

c. Email address & telephone number.

5. Entries should be submitted in .doc format with the following specifications:

a. Font Type: Times New Roman

b. Spacing : 1.5 inch spacing

c. Font Size : 12 points

6. Entries should conform to either the Blue Book (19th ed.) or OSCOLA (format can be freely downloaded at www.law.ox.ac.uk/oscola

7.PRIZES*
First : `25,000 ($500)

Second : `12,500 ($250)

Third : `7,500 ($150)

* Please note the winning entry will be eligible for publication at the NUJS Law Review
8. CLOSING DATE

The closing date for entries is October 1, 2012 at 12:00 PM (IST).

9. MODE OF SUBMISSION

Entries have to be mailed to iptls@nujs.edu. Late submissions will not be considered.
10. JUDGES

Entries will be adjudged by a five member panel consisting of international and national experts in intellectual property laws. The decision of the panel is final.

11. RESULTS

The results of the competition will be notified on or before November 15, 2012.
12.COPYRIGHTS
By entering the competition, the author undertakes to:

a. Grant an exclusive license in the entry to the organizers until the announcement of results, and b. Seek prior consent from the organizers for any use of the prize-winning entries including any subsequent publication or distribution after the announcement of results.
