Hindi Book Release - Misc

Justice Sudershan Kumar Misra, Judge, Delhi High Court releases a Hindi book on “Legal Language, Legal Vocabulary and Legal Writing” – an aid to legal writing, word formation, drafting and communication at Amity Law School

It was a memorable occasion when Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sudershan Kumar Misra, Judge, Delhi High Court released the book titled “Legal Language, Legal Vocabulary and Legal Writing” authored by Dr. Kavita Surbhi- Amity Law School, Noida during a ceremony organized at Amity Campus, Sector- 125, Noida in the presence of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group, Dr. Rahul Dev- Eminent Journalist, Mr. Amitabh Srivastav- LexisNexis Publications and Maj. Gen. Nilendra Kumar- Dean, Amity Law Schools.

Bar Council has, recently, introduced compulsory Hindi legal language paper in 5 year law colleges and universities, as a result of which now there is a paper as well as practical training imparted to budding lawyers in Hindi. The book is written in an easy and lucid language and will cater to the syllabus of Hindi Language paper of various Law colleges and Universities of the country. The book will facilitate the use of correct and appropriate words and expression at appropriate occasion .It will be sent to the world renowned Universities Harvard, Yale and Singapore Universities

Releasing the book, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sudershan Kumar Misra, Judge, Delhi High Court said that in India, there are many Hindi speaking States including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar and in addition to these, there are States where regional languages are spoken. “In Supreme Court and High Courts, people come from diverse backgrounds and regions, which made Indian Government to come up with Legal Glossary in which various legal concepts are explained in both Hindi and English languages.” shared Hon’ble Justice. He remarked that “Legal Language, Legal Vocabulary and Legal writing”, which is an important milestone in strengthening the legal language and legal vocabulary in the legal profession ,will benefit the students practitioners, law teachers, judges, government officials, policy makers, general public and all those who are interested in the legal field and hope that more books in Hindi and regional languages will be written in near future.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group remarked that at Amity, every possible effort is made to ensure the development of the students. The faculty members at Amity work towards making the students successful professionals as well as responsible citizens of the nation. He highlighted that the book authored by Dr. Kavita is a noble effort in the same direction, endeavoring to help its readers, men in public administration and legal profession comprehend legal language, legal vocabulary and legal writing in a comprehensive manner.

Sharing her views and introducing the book, author Dr. Kavita Surbhi shared that Legal Language, Legal Vocabulary and Legal Writing are areas in which not much has been written. In the field of law, numerous legal terms and phrases have found their way in various enactments and legislations, which need special attention. She stressed that the book outlines how to organize ideas, create and refine prose and nurture editing skills. She thanked Amity, Publisher of the book and Maj. Gen. Nilendra Kumar for encouraging her to write in Hindi and take such a bold step.

While taking about the problems faced in editing the book, Mr. Amitabh Srivastav- LexisNexis Publications outlined how the dearth of specialized Hindi Editors in UP Hindi Belt led him to a frantic search of Editors in the nearby cities and finally, the Book was edited by an Editor located in Bangalore.
